London crowds

Andrew here.
We had been told about the London crowds but I guess you just don't truly apreciate them until you're in the middle of the masses and trying to get to somewhere by a particular time.  Throw in a smattering of being completely disorientated by all the large and enclosed buildings ( but they are beautiful),  a general lackof street signage, some heat and an international bike race around the middle of London (road closures and diversions) and the Devlin's were a wee bit flustered.  Thank goodness for a wonderful old gentleman who gave me very clear instructions on how to get to the Theatre - I won't ever see him again but I always remember his wonderful manner and kindness.  Lesson in here for us all.

The stage show of Mama Mia is absolutely amazing.  Everything about it was a sensory experience - the singing and music, the quirky building architecture ( toilets were an eye opener), lighting and costumes, and the smells of a building that is 100's of years old.  I'd put this on a must do list for anyone coming over here and you can pick up cheaper tickets on the day at heaps of street stalls - we didn't do this but there were a number of spare seats at the matinee session we went to.  Went to M&M World which is spread over three levels in Leinster Sq - it is a marketing mirracle and whoever had this as an idea is a visionary marketer - the girls loved it and brought heaps !  Similar story with Hamleys which is a great 5 story toy shop - needless to say we were in there for ages and carried out lots of bags.

The tube is a fantastic way of getting around the city and while we're only travelling outside peak times, it does seem an easy stress free way of getting about.  Infact I'd go as far as to say it's easier to navigate underground than it is above ground !  You see some amazing sights and smell some amazing smells (temperatures in the late 20's isn't helpful when standing in a full carriage).  I was thinking of going down to Wimbledon today, but the timing just wouldn't work - so it's a beer or two with Sueand a walk around Hyde Park ( Wendy wants to see Diana's memorial) the the obligatory trip to Harrods to buy a
tea towel.
